RESEARCH AREAS

1) Isolation of novel microbial strains from Ghanaian marine invertebrates and soils or sediments collected from Ghanaian extreme environments including the mangrove patches of the Western Region, high fluoride and arid areas in the Northern Region, the rich soils and waterfalls of the Brong Ahafo Region and some selected red soil types in the Greater Accra Region.

2) Chemical characterization and bioactivity of secondary metabolites from Ghanaian marine invertebrates and microbes. Bioassays are focused on diseases that have a high prevalence in Africa for example, Ebola, Tuberculosis, HIV-AIDS, River Blindness, Guinea Worm, Malaria, Cancer, Infections and Intestinal Parasites.

3) Studies on the systematic screening for potential anthelminthic and antimalarial metabolites from Ghanaian plant extracts using Caenorhabditis elegans.

4) Chemical characterization of the constituents of Ghanaian alcoholic herbal bitters.

5) Analysis of phthalates as primary contaminants in Ghanaian sachet and bottled water.
